SOS CSF(Composite Shock Frames)
SOS Composite Shock Frames are used to create a low mass / low inertia frame which will not bounce or shift during athletic activity. SOS Eyewear is built to meet the toughest challenges of competition and active life-styles. CSF (Composite Shock Frames are extremely durable to withstand the the rugged demands of active sports. Lightweight CSF (Bare designed for long wearing comfort and to absorb punishment.

SOS XLT (Xtreme Lens Technology)
Blocks glare without changing color perception. Multi-Color flash mirror coatings reflect light creating anti-glare viewing. SOS XLT (creates smoke grey viewing on the inside and XLT (Multi-Color flash on the outside.

SOS Polarized MLF (Multi-Layer Filtration)
SOS high definition polarized MLF (Multi-Layer Filtration lenses are one piece, distortion free, ophthalic quality, high tech polycarbonate. There are no laminates to seperate and nothing to degrade the polarization as with laminated films. Laminated polarized lenses can delaminate due to faulty bonding, aging and exposure to heat. SOS MLF is distributed evenly throughout the lens and not laminated to the lens as found on inferior polarized lenses. SOS Polarized MLF (Multi-Layer Filtration lenses block vertically-reflected light by horizontally aligning the crystalline structure of the lens. This makes them ideally suited for use around water, snow, and for driving. Avoid cheap polarized glasses, because hazy lenses may result in eye strain.

SOS XCLS (X Changeable Lens System)
Survival Optics introduces XCLS ( X-Changeable Lens System. XCLS (styles provide options for all lighting conditions. Eight, nine and ten base sport wrap designs offer maximum coverage and protection. An excellent all purpose choice when changing light conditions are possible.

Polycarbonate Lenses
SOS's shatterproof polycarbonate lenses are optically correct for zero distortion to provide outstanding optical performance and enhanced vision in any lighting condition. Polycarbonate is the newest development in lens materials. It is a type of LEXAN from G.E., the same material used for bullet resistant glass in autos. It is such hard material that a special diamond grinding wheel must be used to cut the lens. To form the glasses the material is melted and then force injected into a special mold. The polycarbonate material is naturally UV absorbing, so even the clear lenses are 100% Ultraviolet protected. Polycarbonite in certain glasses is actually approved for use as safety glasses. Polycarbonate lenses are lightweight, durable, impact-resistant and the most scratch-resistant of the plastics. They are virtually break proof. Polycarbonate eyewear is the only approved eye protection for most major Police & Fire Departments. All Survival Optics Sunglasses are warranted by the manufacturer to exceed Shatter-Resistant Safety Standards. These standards are applicable to U.S. Government standards for ultraviolet protection and impact resistance.

Venting Systems
SOS Venting Systems incorporates exhaust vents into some of their lense and frame designs to enhance air-flow and virtually eliminate fog and condensation. This design feature allows maximum ventilation while blocking extraneous incoming light.

Nose Grips
SOS's nose grips create a non-slip grip that keeps SOS sunglasses securely in place during athletic activity. This self-adjusting material ensures a soft feel and custom fit regardless of head shape or size.

Temples (Earstems)
The temples on SOS models are curved to shadow the contours of your head without putting pressure on your temples. Most are then wrapped in a non-slip material to ensure they stay securely and comfortably on your head. This advanced anatomical design ensures a secure fit with exceptional comfort.

Lens Tints and Coatings
Smoke, Gray and Gray-Green Tints
The most common type of lens color. They are effective at blocking glare without changing color perception, making them a good choice for all-weather use.

Brown Amber Lens Tints
Especially good at blocking the blue light commonly found in diffused light such as one might experience on a cloudy day. Amber can improve both contrast and depth perception, and is a good all-around choice if you live in an area with changeable weather patterns.

Yellow Amber Tints
Improve contrast and give a sensation of heightened visual acuity. So-called "Driving" lenses are usually amber or yellow-brown.

UV Protection
SOS Eyewear provides the industry standard UV 400 eye protection. All SOS Eyewear is warranted by the manufacturer to meet or exceed applicable U.S. Government standards for ultraviolet protection and impact resistance.

Hints
If you're in and out of the sun constantly, like a delivery driver, a cord is a must, or you have to be putting your sunglasses away all the time.

Don't leave sunglasses with plastic frames inside vehicles on warm days. You don't want your sunglasses to "melt" and lose their form.

Storage
It's always best to place your sunglasses in a case when you aren't wearing them. Not only will it help in preventing them from becoming scratched, but it will also protect them from accidentally breaking, like someone sitting on them.

Avoid placing your glasses without a case in your purse or pocket. Keys or combs can easily scratch them.

Cleaning
Clean dust and lint from your lenses with a soft cloth. An excellent suggestion is the Micro Fiber cloth, which we stock in all of our stores. Using a Micro Fiber Cloth will ensure that the lenses do not become scratched.

SOS Polarized Sunglasses

100% UVA/UVB Protection - Featuring one-piece MLF Multi-Layer Filtration lenses that provide distortion free, ophthalic quality and extreme eye comfort. There are no laminates to seperate and nothing to degrade the polarization as with laminated films. Laminated polarized lenses can delaminate due to faulty bonding, aging and exposure to heat. SOS MLF is distributed evenly throughout the lens and not laminated to the lens as found on inferior polarized sunglass lenses. SOS Multi-Layer Filtration blocks vertically-reflected light by horizontally aligning the crystalline structure of the lens. This makes them ideally suited for use around water, snow, and for driving. Avoid cheap polarized sunglasses, because hazy lenses may result in eye strain. Survival Optics Polarized Sunglasses are backed by a lifetime warranty.

For years, polarized sunglasses have been used by boaters and fisherman to reduce glare from the water that they spend so much time on. In the past few years, however, the benefits of polarized sunglasses have been realized by a variety of other outdoor sports enthusiasts as well as by drivers and general use wearers. Thus, the popularity of polarized sunglasses has increased dramatically, as has availability.

The activities that utilize the benefits of polarized sunglasses the most include, water sports, skiing, golfing, biking and jogging. For these activities they offer a clearer view and eliminate glare.

They are also recommended for driving in daylight and in fact can reduce the glare that comes off a long, flat surface such as the hood of the car or a highway. Polarized sunglasses can also be used indoors by light-sensitive patients or by those exposed to bright light through windows. Light reflected from surfaces like a flat road or smooth water is generally horizontally polarized. This horizontally polarized light is blocked by the vertically oriented polarizers in the lenses. The result is a reduction in annoying and sometimes dangerous glare.
